A couple of weeks ago I received sort of a strange request. A customer wanted a breakfast themed birthday cake for her daughter's 2nd birthday. Something unusual and fun. I immediately was excited because, well, I love a good challenge. I sketched a few designs and I was so happy when she chose my personal pick. The result was incredibly fun and is now one of my personal favorites!
Just in case it's hard to tell the base of the entire cake is a giant waffle. Then you've got doughnuts, cereal, a short stack of pancakes, and a piece of bacon & an egg.
I have to say that I was so pleased with how the pancakes turned out. I really wanted a cake airbrush machine for this project, but couldn't get it in time. I'm almost glad I didn't have it because it literally turned out just like my sketch!
I hope you loved this cake as much as I did. And hopefully if you've got a whacky cake idea out there you'll shoot it to me, the quirkier the better!
