Cupcake Camp Review!

I promise I haven't forgot about this blog, April has been so incredibly busy with cupcake and cake orders, not to mention Easter, Cupcake Camp, Cupcake Kids, and a renovation project at my house. With that being said, I'm FINALLY going to give a review of Cupcake Camp Dallas!

First of all, I want to thank all of you who "liked" my photo on facebook! I know I was super annoying asking everyone over and over again, but I have good news... I won the Kindle!! And I've already finished reading my first book on it. I am now officially obsessed! Again, thank you all for your support and helping me win!

Second, Cupcake Camp was incredible! It was fun, the people running the camp were so nice and helpful, and everything was just a blast! There were over 4,000 cupcakes at the event and so many bakers, both professional and amateur. I loved networking and meeting people.

Third... there was a cupcake competition. I entered three cupcakes for each category: Easter, Texas, and Best Overall. I was happy to win the Kindle, but then while the judges moved the winning cupcakes to the "winners" table, I noticed my Easter cupcake being moved. I couldn't believe it! I won Best Easter Cupcake: Amateur Division. It was such an exciting day!

Cupcake Camp really inspired me, I felt this month I was able to bake cupcakes for a bigger purpose and it was such a blessing. I really feel the desire now to continue making cupcakes for a purpose to help others and further the Kingdom of God. Just praying for the doors to open to start a cupcake/cake shop that aids orphans, the local community, and more.

Have a terrific weekend! Be blessed!!

A Double Baby Shower Cake

A couple of weeks ago I was able to do a cake to celebrate two amazing ladies and their new babies. One of the ladies just adopted a sweet little boy, while the other mommy is pregnant with a girl.
The shower was so fun and the cake was a huge hit! The bottom tier was yummy with chocolate cake and chocolate frosting & fresh raspberries. The top tier was vanilla cake with cream cheese frosting and strawberry preserves.
The leftovers went home with the mommies, but I'd say for that large of a cake we took care of a lot of it : )

Cupcakes for Sale! Cupcakes for Sale!

A few weeks ago I mentioned a great cupcake event called "The Cupcake Kids". Now I'm ready to tell you about the awesome details! This awesome cupcake sale will benefit the Sixty Feet organization. This organization brings aid to a group of Ugandan orphans held in prisons that are in unimaginable conditions. You can find out more about Sixty Feet here. Here is the best part, YOU can do something about this on April 16th!

There are a couple of ways you can help:
1) Buy Cupcakes!
Jessicakes and Eaton Cupcakes are selling gourmet cupcakes (decorated, filled, special flavors, etc.) for $25 per dozen.
OR.....
You can buy a dozen  old-fashioned chocolate or vanilla cupcake with confetti, strawberry, chocolate, or vanilla icing by the dozen for $20.00.

Send your orders to courtandgracewillis@yahoo.com (Courtney is the lady in charge).
***Cupcakes will be delivered April 16th. Please order by April 14th!
***100% of the proceeds go to Sixty Feet.

2) Make Cupcakes!
Bake cupcakes to donate to the Cupcake Sale. We will be selling Friday, April 15th at MHS, so if you'd like to donate, we'd love to have your cupcakes!
OR...
Hold your own Cupcake Sale in your neighborhood. This is a great project to do with your kids! Bake & sell them to your neighbors. Then contact Courtney or I to collect the money to donate to Sixty Feet.

It is so easy to do! Please consider buying at least one dozen (or more) to support these orphans! You can make the difference in their life!

"Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless. Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world."
James 1:26-27

Help!

Well, I'm getting beat in the facebook photo contest, so I need your help! Below, I've again placed the instructions for how to "Like" the photo. If you could,  "like" the photo, if you already have, then spread the word!

I have posted a picture of a cupcake on the Cupcake Camp Dallas Page. All you have to do is “Like” the Cupcake Camp page and then “Like” my photo. I was in the lead, but as of today I just got surpassed. Please spread the word and “like” my photo (it’s a carrot cake cupcake with a blue fish on it).

Thanks!
Jessica

An Artful Cake

I love fun birthday cakes and when customers are so open to what they want their cake to look like. This freedom allows for me to change the cake at will, to make it better then the customer expects. Whenever I get jobs like this I get excited about all of the possibilities. This cake was no exception and I loved how it turned out.
The cake was a simple vanilla cake with yummy chocolate frosting. This was a large cake, 10 inch round, and then I carved the cake to be in the shape of an art palette. I decided to stage this photo with a few paint bottles and brushes to add some fun. Did I mention this cake was for twin girls? They had their party at "Painting With a Twist" and I'm sure this cake fit the occasion just right.

Have a delicious day!
