Birds & baby

I just love things that are precious. I love MAKING things that are so stinkin' cute, you can't help, but be obsessed with them. That's why I love this cake and cupcakes so much, they are adorable. You can't look at them without thinking, "awww, cute!". Trust me, I've tried.
The cake and cupcakes were for a "bird" themed baby shower. I love the idea! The cupcakes were vanilla with vanilla, while the cake was vanilla with yummy strawberry buttercream.

Ah! They are so cute!
The customer, Shara Johnson also does photography, so she got some awesome shots of them on display!
If you are interested in using her photo skills, let me know and I'll send you her info! She did a great job with these babies!

Butterflies & Baby

This cake is so cute i can hardly stand it. Seven year old me, would have loved this cake. Heck, 24 year old me, loves it! This was a baby shower cake, but I think it could transcend to little girl birthday for sure!
The butterflies were all based around the new baby's bedroom design. I just made everything pink & purple per the customer's request. I think it is so pretty and cute, and it was also delicious with a classic mix of chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream. Yummy!
Here is what the customer shared with me on facebook about this cake,
"The butterfly baby shower cake was a huge hit. Everyone LOVED it! Thank you!"-Nikki B.

I'll take a compliment like that any day!

Ra-Ra-Rangers Cake!

Totally forgot I had this cake saved as a draft! Ah! Hate when I do that. At least  I found it to show you all! This was a super sweet anniversary cake and perfect for the current baseball season!
I love, loved how this cake turned out and have a feeling others might request a similar one! Maybe I should make a Mavs cake to help them win the playoffs...though I don't know if this Rangers cake has brought about any luck to them....

Sock Monkey Toppers

Recently I was able to take on a fun challenge. Kyle's cousin, and my dear friend, asked for me to make her kiddos cupcake toppers and cake toppers for their first birthday. Seems simple enough, but they do not live locally, oh no, they live in Missouri. I've been wanting to practice just doing toppers, so this was a great opportunity. I made the toppers and let them dry out some. Then I packaged them in an airtight container between layers of wax paper. The cupcake toppers were easy to pack, while I was a bit nervous about the cake toppers. They were a little big and didn't dry out much. I ended up using a paper plate to stabilize it for the drive. Kyle's parents drove the "shipment" up to Missouri and everything turned out great!
I think the little sock monkey cupcake toppers were stinking cute and the cake toppers turned out great as well! Her whole party theme was cute, so I know everything looked amazing!
I'm still a little too scared to ship these toppers through the mail, but personal delivery isn't too bad of an option. :)

Black Belt in Cake

Now, I've never been into karate that much, but I have wondered how you get one of those cool black belts. Andrea was lucky enough to earn hers! After much hard work she proved herself and her sweet mom rewarded her with a Jessicake!
This cake was fairly simply, with the main design being the black belt wrapped around the cake. The cake itself was white cake with cream cheese and strawberry preserves. Dee-lish!
Way to go Andrea! I know your mom & dad are super proud of you!

Wedding AND Groom's Cake!

I feel like I barely blog anymore, but I promise, I'm still baking and taking LOTS of pictures. I'm just so busy between preschoolers, cakes, and working with my friends on their new business, but I'm loving every minute of it!
This job was especially a big deal. The job encompassed a wedding cake, groom's cake, and 6 dozen cake balls! I was just a little busy...
I loved the way this cake turned out. It was very simple, but fun and funky. The bride just wanted daisies and her colors involved. Its kind of a grayscale spring wedding cake!  The flavors were lemon filled with cream cheese frosting.
The groom's cake was also fun to make, an xbox controller. It was a red velvet cake with cream cheese.
I got a note from the sister-in-law of the bride saying how much the wedding party loved the cake and how the bride didn't want to share her cake balls with the guests! I'd say it was a wedding success!!

A Pink Theme...

My favorite color is green. It has been since before junior high. And not the dumpy hunter green or emerald green, but a bold lime green. My dad and I painted my entire room this color in 8th grade. I loved it then and I'm still loving it now. I never was much of a "pink" fan, though I did have some amazing pink, sparkly boots with fringe as a kid (from Mervyn's of course). I have grown a fondness for pink and green as a color combination, however this blog post is dedicated solely to PINK!
This cake was for a 50th birthday party and I love how fun & funky it is!

This is an adorable smash cake and cupcakes for a one year olds completely pink birthday party. The cupcakes were a mix of strawberry and vanilla with vanilla frosting. The cake was vanilla & vanilla as well.
I don't know if you can tell, but lately I'm obsessed with sparkles...It just makes the cake so fun!

Superhero Cake for a Super Kid!

Let me tell you, I love doing kid's cakes. They are always so creative and fun. Don't get me wrong, cakes for adults can also be a blast, but there is something about making a cake for a kid and you know they are just going to love it. This superhero cake for my dear preschool buddy Champe was fun to make!
Inside the cake looked a tad girly since it was strawberry cake with strawberry filling, but outside, the cake was 100% boy! As was the superhero themed party he had. My favorite part of the cake had to be the little figure of Champe on the front. It was just too cute!
